Reflections from my Placement year

I recently completed my placement year internship at Glue Reply and I wanted to take a moment to reflect and appreciate all the amazing experiences it granted me.

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to:

Work on real-world projects spanning front-end development, backend microservices, and API integrations.

Collaborate directly with clients to clarify requirements, solve production issues, and ship solutions at scale.

Build a production-ready Django microservice to support AI assistant features.

Improve features of existing services such as significantly reducing log retrieval time for support investigations

Beyond the technical skills, I’ve learned a lot about teamwork and effective time management, problem-solving under pressure, and the importance of clear communication when working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A huge thank you to my colleagues, friends and mentors at Glue Reply for the support, guidance, and trust throughout the year, I’ve grown immensely both as an engineer and a professional.

Excited to apply what I’ve learnt when I return to King’s College London to complete my degree in a far better position than this time last year, and to see where the next chapter of my journey takes me!
